MACD Screens

This screen looks for a MACD signal line cross while the price is above the 20 day SMA but below the 100 day SMA. When looking at the results we should also look for a larger than average volume to support the next move.

Screen criteria:

MACD signal line cross within last 5 trading days
30 day average volume greater than or equal to 25,000
Price/Close below the 100 day SMA
Price/Close above the 20 day SMA

MACD and Bollinger Bands

In this screen we have used a band system to ensure a move rather than moving averages. The results for this screen will have charts that not only have a signal line cross but also the price will have crossed the 20 day SMA (BB center line cross) and breached the outer Bollinger Band.

Price crosses Bollinger Band center line within last 10 days
Price breaches Bollinger Band within last 10 days
MACD signal line cross within last 4 days
Last traded volume greater than 100,000
Close between $1 & $120

MACD & CCI

MACD and CCI work well as complementary indicators and they work well as a screening combination. While the CCI gives us an indication of overbought/oversold the MACD will give us our trend.

Screen criteria:

MACD signal line cross within last 5 days
CCI crosses extreme within last 5 days
Average 30 day volume at least 25,000
