Insider selling

Insider selling is when a director, management or employee sells some/all or their company stock. For traders the buying/selling of insider stock is sometimes interpreted as positive/negative for the future price movement. The reasoning behind this is that it is assumed that the insiders always know something the trader does not even through insiders selling/buying on inside information is illegal. For an insider to sell stock, the insider must specify in advance the amount and time when the stock will be sold. This information is made public and recorded.
