Incubated fund

An incubated fund is a fund which is privately managed before it is offered to the public. If the privately managed fund has successful returns then it is offered to the public, if the fund is unsuccessful it is liquidated. It is important to note that when the fund is private the conditions or rules that create those returns may be different then when the fund is made public. Since these conditions or rules may change so will the returns the fund generates however some fund managers will still use the private return numbers and attempt to hide the fund's origins. An incubated fund is also known as a limited distribution.
