Introducing
PreScreens
ChartFilter
PreScreens are stock screens that
have been assembled using existing
technicals and fundamentals from
our StockScreener. They are a result
of requests from our subscribers
and members of our user group (http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/chartfilter/).
If you want your own PreScreen,
let us know, and we will add it
to our page.
The
rules to getting your own PreScreens:
1)
They are based on existing and supported
criteria.
2)
Send us an e-mail with the conditions,
as well as a brief description/purpose
about the screen.
Using
PreScreens:
Log
into ChartFilter
and go to the StockScreener. You
will now see these new options.
After
you click on the Basic Prescreens
option, you will see the following
choices:

Each
PreScreen has a description (click
the "?") beside it. Below
the PreScreen name you will see
which exchanges are supported. For
example, if you click on a "NYSE"
listing, the PreScreen will only
screen the New York Stock Exchange.

When
I click on any of the PreScreens,
a results list will appear with
all issues matching the criteria.
In this example I will click on
the NYSE, 5 day volume movers. The
following graphic shows my results
screen.

As
you can see, this PreScreen has
reported quite a few successful
candidates, however, only issues
with high ratio's are important
in this case. The volume movers
screen shows abnormal trading volumes
(i.e. if a stock traded 5 times
the volume on last close compared
to it's 5,20,50 day average volume).
If
you would like to refine a PreScreen,
run the PreScreen (as shown above)
and then click on the StockScreener
tab at the top of the page.
The
example above (5 day volume movers
on the NYSE) will look like this
in the StockScreener:

**only showing
portions of form that have conditions,
all other portions of the form are
blank.
You
can then refine the PreScreen to
your own system or strategy by adding
or altering any of the preset conditions.
More PreScreens will be added, so
let us know which one you would
like to see and check back often
to see what is new.
