I've
installed Stock Tools but cannot find the icon on
my desktop.
Stock Tools is
a web-based service. To activate the software
you must log in to your account at Chartfilter.com,
go to Stock Tools and click the START
Stock Tools icon. An easy way to log
in is to put the Chartfilter log-in url in your
Favorites or Links list in Internet Explorer.
ChartFilter Stock
Tools requires the use of Java Web Start (free).
We use Java Web Start software as it provides
a flexible and robust deployment solution for
Java technology-based applications based on the
Java Community Process program (JCP). Java Web
Start technology works with any browser and any
Web server. With this technology we can provide
you with an updated version of our software everytime
you log in. No CDs, paying for upgrades or database
downloads.
What
are the supported browsers?
Java Web Start
supports primarily Internet Explorer 4 or higher
and Netscape 4.X. However JNLP files can be launched
from any browser if the mime-type association
is done correctly. Please note that Java Web Start
uses the browsers settings and may launch a browser
to show a URL.
Java Web Start
works with Netscape 6. However, you will manually
need to register JavaTM Web Start with NS6. This
is done in the Navigator/Applications section
of the Navigator/Helper Application section.
This will be
done automatically in a later version of the JavaTM
Web Start installer.

How
do I uninstall Stock Tools?
Because of the technology we use (Java Web Start)
the usual uninstall features of Windows are not
applicable. However, to remove the ChartFilter Stock
Tools from your computer use My Computer and go
to: C:\ProgramFiles\Java Web Start\.javaws\cache\http\Dwww.chartfilter.com.
Delete the directory:
Dwww.chartfilter.com This will remove the Stock
Tools application and free-up about 6 mg on your
hard drive. If you do decide to use Stock Tools
again during the free period then simply click on
the Start Stock Tools image and it will download
again. Removing Stock Tools from your computer will
not affect your account.
